Mothers & Children
For 35 years, Freedom House has been on a mission to empower individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders to live healthy and independent lives. Freedom House provides drug and alcohol addiction recovery programs to men and women, serving more than 850 individuals per year. Substance abuse and mental health issues are among our most challenging community health issues, and access to safe, supportive residential environments and on-site support services for individuals without the ability to pay is critical.
Freedom House's Family Afterward Program, one of just a few like it in New Jersey, is designed to help both mothers and children by providing recovery housing and case management services, preventing loss of custody due to homelessness and substance issues. Family Afterward is proud to have helped over 200 women reunite with their children. But there are many more in need of help.
Honoring a Legacy through an Expansion to
Serve Even More
Thanks to the generosity of a long-time local family, a house in Morristown, NJ, has been secured and construction
has begun.
The DeLaney House for Women and Children, honoring the legacy of Dr. Jack and Ruth DeLaney, will broaden Freedom House's reach and impact by serving countless more individuals and families. Focusing on recovery and family reunification, the new space will provide a safe and supportive environment for up to five women and their children while leveraging Morristown's access to transportation, community services, healthcare, and employment opportunities.
